Right Turn for Yuma Veterans is a new program under the Child and Family Services, Inc. organization. Child & Family Services of Yuma, Inc (CFS) is a non-profit agency that has provided quality out-patient counseling services to children and their families since 1979.
In 2014, Right Turn for Yuma Veterans was established to help reduce the homeless veteran population in Yuma County.
Right Turn for Yuma Veterans offers long-term, transitional housing in a group home setting for up to six male veterans who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. Right Turn for Yuma Veterans provides our veterans with not just a roof over their head, but the support system necessary to live independently within the community. A clean, comfortable, and safe environment provides our residents with a reliable stepping off point for their return to independence.
Right Turn for Yuma Veterans focuses on the individual goals of each unique veteran. These goals include, but are not limited to:
– Improving mental/physical health
– Developing financial independence
– Re-engagement with their family and community
– Obtaining military benefits
– Finding valuable employment/schooling
– Finding independent living
Right Turn for Yuma Veterans provides to its veterans mental health counseling, case coordination, transportation, and life coaching in the areas of healthy living and financial planning and job seeking skills. Services that we coordinate include transportation to medical appointments, employment activities, volunteer activities, and employment searches.
Veterans are encouraged to volunteer in the community, participate in community activities, seek out and participate in healthy recreational activities, and to build beneficial friendships.
With the Right Turn for Yuma Veteran’s program, veterans identify and address the problems they must resolve in order to become an independent and contributing member of society once again.
